Method

Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for baking.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat together the milk, eggs, and melted unsalted butter until smooth. If using, add vanilla extract at this stage.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Add Flavor Additions

Fold in any of the flavor additions you choose to use, such as cocoa powder, chopped nuts, fresh berries, or chocolate chips.

Baking

6

Prepare Baking Pan

Grease and flour a baking pan of your choice (9x13 inch is recommended) to prevent sticking.

7

Pour Batter

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

8

Bake

Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

9

Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
