Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all ingredients. Drain the San Marzano tomatoes and crush them by hand or with a fork. Wash and pat dry the basil leaves.
Cooking
- 2
Cook the Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the crushed San Marzano tomatoes and stir in salt and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain the rest. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if the sauce is too thick.
Serving

Plate the Dish
Serve the spaghetti topped with fresh basil leaves and crumbled Parmesan cheese. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil if desired. Enjoy!
