House-made Plum Syrup Ingredients
Method
Cocktail Preparation
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the Empress gin, crème de violette, house-made plum syrup, and fresh lemon juice.
- 2
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
- 3
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
- 4
Add Bubbles
Top with sparkling water or champagne to add a refreshing effervescence.
House-made Plum Syrup Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Plums
Wash and pit the fresh plums. Cut them into quarters.
- 6
Cook the Syrup
In a saucepan, combine the quartered plums, granulated sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 7
Simmer
Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the plums are soft and the syrup has thickened slightly.
- 8
Strain the Syrup
Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to separate the syrup from the plum solids. Allow it to cool before using.
