Base Ingredients

Method

Prepare the Coffee

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

In a coffee maker or espresso machine, brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee. Allow it to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Coffee

Add 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar to the warm espresso and stir until dissolved. Set aside to cool completely.

Make the Cream Mixture

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and thick.

  2. 4

    Combine with Mascarpone

Add 2 cups of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture and mix until smooth and creamy.

  3. 5

    Whip the Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 6

    Fold the Cream

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the cooled espresso, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer the Cookies

In a rectangular dish, arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer.

  3. 9

    Add Cream Layer

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers evenly.

  4. 10

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.

Chill and Serve

  1. 11

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld.

  2. 12

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, sift 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.

  3. 13

    Slice and Enjoy

Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
