- 1
Prepare glass
Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Pour the salt onto a small plate and gently dip the rim into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Don Julio Blanco tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 0.25 oz agave syrup, and 2 dashes orange bitters.
- 3
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and a good frost forms on the outside.
- 4
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (for a rocks pour) or fine-strain into the chilled coupe if you prefer it up. Use a hawthorne and a fine mesh strainer if available to remove ice shards.
- 5
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
