Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking dish or cast-iron skillet.

In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

Mix Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the corn kernels, chopped green onions, and black pepper.

Combine Mixtures

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish or skillet. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Bake

Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm as a side dish to complement your main course.
