Salad Ingredients

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat. Once cooled, chop into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Toast the Hazelnuts

In the same skillet, add the hazelnuts and toast them over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool.

  3. 3

    Slice the Pears

Wash the fresh pears, cut them in half, remove the core, and slice them thinly. You can keep the skin on for added texture and flavor.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Lettuce

Rinse the baby lettuce leaves under cold water, then spin dry in a salad spinner or pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.

  5. 5

    Crumble the Cheese

Crumble the Stilton blue cheese into small pieces to sprinkle over the salad.

Vinaigrette Preparation

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the champagne vinegar, honey, salt, and freshly ground black pepper until well combined.

  2. 7

    Emulsify the Dressing

While whisking, slowly drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil until the vinaigrette is emulsified and smooth.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Toss the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the baby lettuce, sliced pears, crispy bacon, toasted hazelnuts, and crumbled Stilton cheese.

  2. 9

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the champagne-honey vinaigrette over the salad and toss gently to combine, ensuring all ingredients are coated.

  3. 10

    Serve

Transfer the salad to a serving platter or individual plates and enjoy immediately.
