Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the NY Strip steaks with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5 minutes.

Caramelized Onions

  1. 3

    Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.

Crown Fries

  1. 4

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into thick fries. Soak the fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Drain the fries and dry them with paper towels. Fry the potatoes in batches until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

Mushroom Sauce

  1. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and minced garlic over medium heat. Sauté until the mushrooms are browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and beef broth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Let simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  2. 7

    Finish the Sauce

Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh parsley.
