Method
Meatball Preparation
- 1
Mix the Meatball Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, ricotta cheese, grated pecorino cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- 2
Shape the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the meat mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Marinara Sauce Preparation

- 5
Add Tomatoes
Pour in the canned whole tomatoes (with juice), breaking them up slightly with a spoon. Stir in the dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- 6
Combine with Meatballs
Once the sauce is simmering, gently add the browned meatballs back into the skillet. Cover and let simmer for about 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
