Preparing the Burger Patty

Mixing Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

Forming Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cooking the Burger

Preheating the Grill or Pan
Preheat your grill or a frying pan over medium-high heat. If using a pan, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

Chopping Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thick slices.

Making the House Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
Assembling the Burger

Toasting the Bun
Optionally, toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Spread a generous amount of house sauce on the bottom half of the bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by the lettuce and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
