Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cook Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) for medium doneness.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Tomato

While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomato into 1/4-inch thick slices.

  2. 6

    Wash Lettuce

Rinse the lettuce leaves under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Optionally, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a burger patty, tomato slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

Prepare Sides

  1. 9

    Cook French Fries

If serving French fries, prepare according to package instructions (baking or frying).

  2. 10

    Serve Coleslaw

If serving coleslaw, place it in a bowl and serve alongside the burgers.
