Method
Burger Patty Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, mash the cooked red beans with a fork or potato masher until smooth but slightly chunky. Add the cooked rice, bread crumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and the beaten egg. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
- 2
Form Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty. Make sure they are compact to prevent them from falling apart during cooking.
- 3
Cook Patties
Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
Assembling the Burger
- 4
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.
- 5
Add Toppings
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a slice of tomato. Then, place the cooked red beans and rice patty on top.
- 6
Complete the Burger
Cover with the top half of the bun and press gently to hold everything together.
