Pasta and Cheese

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and golden, creating a roux.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps from forming. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Cheese and Seasonings

Reduce heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce, stirring well to ensure all the pasta is coated evenly.

  6. 6

    Optional Breadcrumb Topping

If desired, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and bake for 20 minutes until golden and crispy.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
