Base Ingredients

Flavoring (choose one)

Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Mix Base Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until it is thoroughly chilled.

Flavoring

  1. 3

    Choose Your Flavor

Decide whether you want to make chocolate or strawberry ice cream. If you are making chocolate ice cream, add the cocoa powder to the chilled base mixture and whisk until well combined. If making strawberry ice cream, fold the pureed strawberries into the chilled base mixture until evenly distributed.

Churning and Freezing

  1. 4

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the flavored mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  2. 5

    Freeze the Ice Cream

Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
