Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk (about 110°F), sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 5
Prepare Filling
In a medium bowl, mix together brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- 6
Roll Out Dough
After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 16x24 inches.
- 7
Forming and Baking
- 8
Roll the Dough
Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the edges to seal.
- 9
Cut Rolls
Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- 10
Second Rise
Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- 11
Bake Rolls
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Icing Preparation
- 12
Make Cream Cheese Icing
In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
- 13
Glaze the Rolls
Once the rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, spread the cream cheese icing over the top while still warm.
