Method

Prepare Comeback Sauce

  1. 1

    Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

Prepare the Patties

  1. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the 8 oz of Angus beef into two equal portions (4 oz each) and gently form them into patties. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties on the skillet. Use a spatula to smash each patty down firmly to create a crust, about 10 seconds. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned.

  3. 4

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked through.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Grill Onions

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.

  2. 6

    Slice Tomato

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato into thin rounds.

Prepare the Buns

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

In a separate skillet, melt butter over medium heat and toast the burger buns until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 8

    Build the Burger

Spread a generous amount of comeback sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a cheeseburger patty on top, followed by grilled onions, tomato slices, and pickle slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
