Iced Tea

To Serve

Method

Iced Tea

  1. 1

    Brew the tea

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Pour the boiling water over 1 black tea bag in a heatproof container.

  2. 2

Steep the tea bag for 3 to 5 minutes depending on how strong you want the tea. Remove the tea bag and gently squeeze it against the side of the container to extract flavor.

  3. 3

If using sugar, stir 1 tsp granulated sugar into the hot tea until fully dissolved. (Sugar is optional — omit or adjust to taste.)

  4. 4

Let the brewed tea cool to room temperature (about 10 minutes). For a quicker chill, you can transfer the tea to an ice bath or add a few ice cubes — note this will slightly dilute the tea.

Lemonade

  1. 5

Use 1 cup of chilled ready-made lemonade or homemade lemonade chilled in advance. Taste it briefly to confirm sweetness and acidity; adjust by adding a splash more lemonade or a tiny pinch of sugar if desired before assembling.

Assemble & Serve

  1. 6

Fill a tall glass with ice (use as much as desired).

  2. 7

Pour 1 cup of the cooled iced tea into the glass, then pour 1 cup of chilled lemonade directly on top. The classic Arnold Palmer is half iced tea, half lemonade; adjust proportions to your taste.

  3. 8

Gently stir once or twice to marry the flavors without losing too much carbonation (if using sparkling lemonade).

  4. 9

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim or floated on top and serve immediately.

  5. 10

Optional: For a sweeter drink, dissolve additional sugar in a teaspoon of hot water to make a quick syrup and stir into the assembled drink to taste.
