Preparation Instructions

1

Soak the Rice

In a bowl, combine the long grain white rice and 2 cups of water. Let it soak for at least 3 hours or overnight for best results.

2

Blend Ingredients

After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a blender with the remaining 2 cups of water and the cinnamon sticks. Blend until the mixture is smooth.

3

Strain the Mixture

Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the blended mixture into a large pitcher to separate the liquid from the rice solids.

4

Add Flavorings

To the strained liquid, add sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.

5

Serve Chilled

Serve the horchata over ice cubes and enjoy. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
