Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Drain and Slice Pickles

Begin by draining the jar of dill pickles. After draining, slice each pickle into thick slices (about 1/4 inch thick) and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, prepare the breading station: one with flour, the second with a mixture of eggs and milk (whisk together), and the third with cornmeal mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (approximately 350°F or 175°C).

  2. 4

    Bread the Pickles

Take a slice of pickle and first coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to adhere. Repeat with remaining pickle slices.

  3. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the breaded pickle slices in the hot oil, a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve with Dipping Sauce

Arrange the fried pickles on a serving platter and serve hot with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
