Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burgers about 1 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half. Optionally, toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Cheeseburger

To assemble, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Add the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, followed by a slice of tomato and a few onion rings. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on top.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the cheeseburgers immediately while they are hot, with your favorite side dishes.
