1

Combine and chill

Add 2 oz W.L. Weller Antique 107, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 3 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters into a mixing glass filled with plenty of ice. Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds until the outside of the glass is well chilled and the liquid is slightly diluted.

2

Prepare glass

Place a large clear rocks glass in front of you and add 1 large ice cube (or several large cubes) to the glass.

3

Strain and garnish

Strain the chilled mixture over the large ice cube in the rocks glass. Express the orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the glass and giving it a firm twist so oils spray onto the surface; then rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the drink (or lay it on the ice as a garnish).

4

Serve immediately and sip slowly to appreciate the high-proof, caramel and vanilla-forward profile of W.L. Weller Antique 107 balanced by the gentle sweetness of the syrup and the aromatic bitters.
