Preparation
Chill glass
Place a rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.
Add ingredients to shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in 2 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10-12 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.
Prepare glass
Discard the ice water from the chilled rocks glass if used, or remove the glass from the freezer. Add fresh cubed ice to the glass (about 1 cup or enough to fill roughly three-quarters).
Strain & top
Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared rocks glass over the fresh ice. If you prefer a slightly longer, lighter drink, top with about 1 oz club soda and gently stir once to combine.
Garnish & serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
