1

Prepare glass

Chill a rocks glass briefly by filling it with ice and cold water while you assemble the cocktail ingredients. After 1–2 minutes, dump the water and if desired add a single large ice cube or sphere to the glass.

2

Build the cocktail

In a mixing glass or bar tin, add 2 oz Four Roses Single Barrel, 0.25 oz simple syrup and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Add 1 dash orange bitters if using.

3

Stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir with a bar spoon for about 20–30 seconds (roughly 20–30 full rotations) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (~15–25% dilution depending on ice).

4

Strain

Strain the chilled cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube. Straining through a Hawthorne or julep strainer will remove any small chips of ice.

5

Garnish

Express the oils from an orange peel by holding it over the drink, skin side down, and giving it a firm twist to release the oils. Run the peel around the glass rim and drop it into the drink. Optionally add a Luxardo or brandied cherry on a pick.

6

Serve immediately. Sip and enjoy the bright spice and fruit notes of Four Roses Single Barrel complemented by a touch of sweetness and bitters.
