Method
Cocktail
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.
Measure ingredients
Using a jigger, measure 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz maraschino liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 oz crème de violette into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (enough to come just above the liquid). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
Double strain and serve
Using a hawthorne or built-in strainer, strain the cocktail into the chilled glass. For a cleaner texture, double-strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove any small ice shards and lemon pulp.
Garnish
Drop one cocktail cherry into the drink. Optionally express a lemon twist over the surface (pinch the peel to release oils) and discard or rest it on the rim.
Tools & Cleanup
Rinse and dry your shaker, jigger, and strainer. Return glassware to appropriate storage and enjoy responsibly.
