Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside while you mix the cocktail (about 3–5 minutes).

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz plum vodka, 0.5 oz dry curaçao, 1 oz cranberry cordial, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional), and 2 dashes of orange bitters.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Add the ice cubes to the shaker. Seal and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker feels very cold and slightly frosted.

  4. 4

    Strain

Dump the ice from the chilled glass, then double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any pulp.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, run it around the rim and drop it in as a garnish. Alternatively, float a thin dehydrated plum slice on the surface. Serve immediately.

  6. 6

    Notes

Adjust sweetness by omitting or reducing the 0.25 oz simple syrup if your cranberry cordial is already sweet. For a slightly fruitier profile, muddle one small slice of ripe plum in the shaker before adding liquids (increase shaking time slightly).
