Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass (optional)
If you prefer a very cold drink, place a copper mule mug or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before assembling the cocktail.
- 2
Build the drink
Fill the chilled mug or a highball glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes (about 1 cup).
- 3
Add spirits and citrus
Pour 2 oz vodka over the ice, then add 0.5 oz fresh lime juice. Using fresh-squeezed lime gives the best bright flavor.
- 4
Top with ginger beer
Slowly pour 4 oz ginger beer into the glass to top the cocktail. Pouring slowly preserves carbonation and helps the layers mix gently.
- 5
Stir gently
Give the drink one or two gentle stirs with a bar spoon to combine the vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer without flattening the carbonation.
- 6
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim and an optional slice of candied or fresh ginger. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring spoon.
