Fill Glass
Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice (about 1 cup).

Add Vodka
Pour 2 fl oz vodka over the ice.

Top with Sprite
Add 4 fl oz Sprite (or lemon-lime soda) slowly so the drink remains fizzy.

Add Grenadine
Pour 0.5 fl oz grenadine down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon so it sinks toward the bottom, creating a layered 'dirty' look.

Garnish
Drop one maraschino cherry into the drink and optionally squeeze and drop half a lime wedge for a touch of citrus. Stir gently if you prefer an even color and flavor distribution.

Serve
Serve immediately with a straw or stir stick. Encourage the drinker to stir before finishing to combine the grenadine throughout.
