Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee and let it cool slightly. Mix in 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

  3. 3

    Combine Cream Ingredients

Add 500g of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Mix until well combined and smooth.

  4. 4

    Whip the Cream

In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Layer the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.

  2. 6

    Add the Cream Filling

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers evenly.

  3. 7

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture on top.

Finishing Touches

  1. 8

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 9

    Serve and Garnish

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
