Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Prepare the Water

Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Spaghetti

Once the water is boiling, add 400 grams of spaghetti. Stir occasionally and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Reserve a cup of pasta water for later use if needed.

Making the Meat Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped carrot, and 1 chopped celery stalk. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Minced 2 cloves of garlic and add them to the skillet. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Brown the Meat

Add 500 grams of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add the Tomatoes and Wine

Stir in 400 grams of canned tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, and 100 ml of red wine. Mix well.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.

  6. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. 10

    Serve the Dish

Once the sauce is ready, combine the spaghetti with the meat sauce in the skillet. Toss to coat the spaghetti with the sauce. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
