Preparation of Seafood

Prepare the Seafood
Rinse the calamari and shrimp under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels and set aside.

Prepare the Pickles and Banana Peppers
Slice the pickles if they are whole. Ensure the banana pepper rings are ready for serving.
Making the Batter

Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
Frying

Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Seafood
Dredge the calamari and shrimp in the batter mixture until evenly coated. Carefully add them to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Fry the Vegetables
Fry the sliced pickles and banana pepper rings in the same hot oil for about 1-2 minutes until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Making the Remoulade

Prepare the Remoulade Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped capers, lemon juice, minced garlic, and hot sauce. Stir until well combined.
Serving

Plate and Serve
Arrange the fried calamari, shrimp, pickles, and banana peppers on a platter. Serve with the remoulade sauce on the side for dipping.
