Croquetas Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Filling

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 2

    Create the Roux

Add flour to the skillet, stirring constantly for about 2 minutes until it's well combined with the onion and garlic. Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Cook the mixture, stirring frequently until it thickens. Add the chopped chicken or ham, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

  4. 4

    Shape the Croquetas

Once the mixture is cool, shape it into small logs or balls, about 1-2 inches in size.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Frying

Set up a breading station with beaten eggs and bread crumbs. Dip each croqueta in egg, then coat with bread crumbs.

  6. 6

    Fry the Croquetas

In a large pot, heat the oil for frying over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the croquetas in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the croquetas from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm and enjoy!
