Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your stone oven or pizza stone to 500°F (260°C) for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into two equal portions for two pizzas. Roll out each portion into a 12-inch round.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Transfer one rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread half of the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese, followed by your choice of pepperoni or sausage, and finish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the hot stone or pizza oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot. Repeat with the second portion of dough.
