Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the angel hair pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Shrimp Cooking
- 2
Sear the Shrimp
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp, season with salt, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Make the Sauce
In the same skillet used for the shrimp, pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add the dried oregano. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally for about 5-7 minutes to let the sauce thicken slightly.
- 4
Combine Shrimp with Sauce
Return the seared shrimp to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Stir in the chopped fresh basil and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the shrimp through.
Assembly
- 5
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained angel hair pasta to the skillet with the shrimp and sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta thoroughly with the sauce.
- 6
Serve
