Method
Preparing the Cheese Balls
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated white cheddar cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Add the all-purpose flour to the cheese mixture and blend until evenly distributed.
- 3
- 4
Form the cheese mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- 5
Roll each cheese ball in bread crumbs until fully coated.
Making the Mother Sauce
- 6
- 7
Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- 8
Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
- 9
Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Stir to combine and remove from heat.
Frying the Cheese Balls
- 10
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 11
Carefully add the cheese balls to the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- 12
Using a slotted spoon, remove the cheese balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 13
Serve the fried cheese balls hot with the mother sauce drizzled on top or served on the side for dipping.
