Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.
- 2
Cook Fettuccini
Once boiling, add the fettuccini and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the fettuccini in a colander.
Making Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt completely.
- 5
- 6
Pour in Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- 7
Add Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Pecorino Romano cheese until fully incorporated and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- 8
Season
Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.
