Method

Preparing the Salad

  1. 1

    Wash and Prepare Vegetables

Rinse the mixed salad greens thoroughly under cold water. Shake off excess water or use a salad spinner to dry them. Next, rinse the grape tomatoes and slice them in half. Peel the cucumber and slice it into thin rounds or half-moons, depending on your preference. Set all the prepared vegetables aside.

  2. 2

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, add the prepared salad greens, halved grape tomatoes, sliced cucumber, and shredded carrot. Toss gently to combine all the ingredients evenly.

Making the Croutons

  1. 3

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into small cubes, approximately 1-inch in size, and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 4

    Season the Croutons

Drizzle the olive oil over the bread cubes. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on top. Toss the bread cubes until they are well-coated with the oil and seasonings.

  3. 5

    Bake the Croutons

Spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through to ensure even browning. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

Serving the Salad

  1. 6

    Assemble and Serve

Add the freshly baked croutons to the salad bowl with the vegetables. Toss again gently to distribute the croutons throughout the salad. Serve immediately and enjoy your fresh house salad!
