Main Ingredients

Chocolate Sauce

Oil for Frying

Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bacon

If using USDA Certified Angus Beef, cut the beef into strips or leave it whole as desired. For Cherry Wood Smoked Bacon, cut the bacon strips into halves or thirds depending on size preference.

  2. 2

    Mix the Tempura Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the tempura batter mix with cold water. Whisk until smooth and there are no lumps. The batter should be thick enough to coat the bacon but not too thick.

Frying Process

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep frying pan or pot, pour in the vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  2. 4

    Batter the Bacon

Dip each piece of prepared bacon into the tempura batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  3. 5

    Fry the Bacon

Carefully place the battered bacon into the hot oil, a few pieces at a time, to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Making the Chocolate Sauce

  1. 6

    Prepare the Chocolate Sauce

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. 7

    Drizzle the Sauce

Once the bacon is fried and drained, drizzle the warm chocolate sauce over the crispy bacon pieces before serving.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Deep Fried Bacon

Arrange the deep-fried bacon on a serving platter and serve immediately while hot, with extra chocolate sauce on the side for dipping if desired.
