Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small saucepan, heat the whole milk until warm (about 110°F). Remove from heat and stir in the active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, remaining granulated sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted unsalted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 4
Prepare the Filling
In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Melt the unsalted butter and set aside.
- 5
- 6
Add the Filling
Sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough. Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log.
- 7
Slice the Rolls
Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
- 8
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 9
Bake the Rolls
Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Frosting Preparation
- 10
Make the Frosting
In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and unsalted butter until creamy. Add the vanilla extract and gradually mix in the powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- 11
Frost the Rolls
Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the top.
