Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Chill a martini or coupe glass by filling it with ice water. Let sit while you prepare the cocktail (about 2–3 minutes).
- 2
Mix ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz tomato juice, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 dashes hot sauce, 0.5 tsp prepared horseradish, 0.25 oz olive brine, 1 pinch celery salt, 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper, and 0.25 tsp simple syrup (if using).
- 3
Add ice and shake
Add 4–6 ice cubes to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. The goal is to slightly aerate and chill without diluting excessively.
- 4
Prepare glass and strain
Dump the ice water from the chilled glass and briefly dry the rim. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled martini or coupe glass using a cocktail strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove any small bits of ice or horseradish.
Garnish & Serve
- 5
Skewer the olive (and optional micro celery) on a cocktail pick and lay it across the rim or drop into the center of the cocktail. Express a lemon twist over the surface to release oils, then run it around the glass rim and drop it in or rest it on the edge.
- 6
Serve immediately. Provide a small napkin and a cocktail stirrer if the drinker prefers to adjust heat or salt while sipping.
