Build the drink
Fill an old-fashioned (rocks) glass about three-quarters full with ice (roughly 1 cup). Pour 1 oz dry vermouth over the ice, then add 1 oz Campari. Give the contents a gentle stir 8–10 times with a bar spoon to chill and slightly dilute the spirit components (about 10–15 seconds).

Top and garnish
Slowly top with approximately 2 oz chilled club soda to preserve carbonation. Give one short gentle stir (2–3 rotations) to combine without flattening. Express the oils of an orange slice over the glass by holding the slice peel-side down and giving it a quick twist, then drop the slice into the drink as garnish.

Serve immediately with a short straw or without. Optionally provide a coaster and a napkin.
