Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add the sliced lemon and Old Bay seasoning to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and transfer them to an ice bath (a bowl of ice water) to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Pat Dry

Once cooled, drain the shrimp and pat them dry with paper towels.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, prepared horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using).

  2. 6

    Mix Well

Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Adjust seasoning with more horseradish or hot sauce to taste.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter.

  2. 8

    Serve with Sauce

Serve the shrimp with the cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
