Method

Cooking the Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse 1 cup of white rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

  3. 3

    Fluff the Rice

Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Then, fluff the rice with a fork.

Cooking the Protein

  1. 4

    Prepare the Chicken

Cut 1 lb of chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and season with soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Cook the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked, stirring occasionally.

Cooking the Vegetables

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the bell pepper and carrot into thin strips.

  2. 7

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the chicken, add the sliced bell pepper, carrot, and broccoli florets. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes, or until they are tender but still crisp.

Assembling the Rice Bowl

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a serving bowl, layer the fluffed rice, cooked chicken, and sautéed vegetables.

  2. 9

    Add Toppings

Top the rice bowl with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and drizzle with Sriracha sauce to taste.
