Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Shrimp

In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Toss well to coat the shrimp evenly. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Breading Station

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. In the third dish, add the panko breadcrumbs.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Remove the marinated shrimp from the refrigerator. Dredge each shrimp in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place the breaded shrimp on a baking sheet.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature using a kitchen thermometer or by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; it should sizzle and brown in about 60 seconds.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Working in batches, carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and a side of cocktail sauce for dipping.
