Method
Preparing the Protein
- 1
Cook Ground Beef
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Season the Beef
Once the beef is browned, drain excess grease if necessary. Add 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- 3
Cook Fajita Chicken
In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced fajita chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Season the Chicken
Add the same taco seasoning to the chicken, along with 1/4 cup of water. Stir well and let simmer for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Assembling the Tacos
- 5
Prepare Taco Shells
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if using hard taco shells. Place the hard shells in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until warm and crisp.
- 6
Fill the Tacos
Take a hard or soft shell and add a generous scoop of either the cooked ground beef or fajita chicken to each shell.
- 7
Add Toppings
Top the meat with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapeños, and guacamole as desired.
