Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Protein

If using ground beef, brown it in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. If using chicken, slice it into thin strips and cook in a skillet with a little oil over medium-high heat until fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Once the protein is cooked, add chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until softened. If using tomato, add it at this stage and cook for another 2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Warm Tortillas

In a separate pan, warm the flour tortillas over low heat for about 30 seconds on each side, making them pliable.

  2. 5

    Fill the Burrito

Lay a warm tortilla flat on a plate. Spoon a generous amount of the protein-vegetable mixture onto the center of the tortilla. Top with shredded cheese, lettuce, and a dollop of sour cream and salsa.

  3. 6

    Roll the Burrito

Fold in the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it from the bottom up to create a secure burrito. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
