Method
Preparation of Beef
- 1
Cook the Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- 2
Add Seasoning
Once the beef is browned, drain excess fat if necessary. Add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.
Assembling Quesadillas
- 3
Prepare the Tortillas
Take one tortilla and place it flat on a clean surface. Sprinkle about 1/2 cup of shredded cheese over half of the tortilla.
- 4
Add Beef Mixture
Spoon a portion of the beef mixture over the cheese. Ensure not to overfill to prevent spillage when folding.
- 5
Top with Cheese
Sprinkle another 1/2 cup of cheese over the beef mixture, then fold the tortilla in half to cover the filling.
Cooking Quesadillas
- 6
Heat the Skillet
In the same skillet or a clean one, heat over medium heat. You may add a little oil if desired.
- 7
Cook Quesadilla
Carefully place the folded quesadilla in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until the tortilla is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side.
- 8
Repeat for Remaining Quesadillas
Remove the cooked quesadilla from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Repeat the assembly and cooking process for the remaining tortillas and filling.
Serving
- 9
Slice and Serve
Cut the quesadillas into wedges and serve hot with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa on the side.
