Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Select a rocks glass (old fashioned). Fill the glass with ice to chill while you mix the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 fl oz amaretto, 3 fl oz fresh orange juice and 0.5 fl oz sweet & sour mix. Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup).

  3. 3

    Shake

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and the drink is well chilled and slightly diluted.

  4. 4

    Strain and serve

Discard the ice from the chilled rocks glass. Strain the shaken cocktail into the glass over fresh ice (one large cube or several smaller cubes).

  5. 5

    Garnish

Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim and a maraschino cherry dropped into the glass. Serve immediately.

If making fresh sweet & sour mix

  1. 6

Combine 1 fl oz fresh lemon juice and 1 fl oz simple syrup in a small container and stir or shake to combine. Use 0.5 fl oz of this mix per cocktail. Store any remainder refrigerated up to 3 days.
