Base Steamer

Flavor Variations (pick one)

Garnish (optional)

Method

Base Steamer

1

Heat water and milk

Combine 2 cups water and 1 cup whole milk in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low to medium heat until steam begins to rise and small bubbles form around the edge (do not let it boil), about 4–6 minutes.

2

Dissolve sugar and vanilla

Stir in 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until dissolved. If using cinnamon, add 1/4 teaspoon now and stir to incorporate.

Add Flavor

3

Add chosen flavoring

Remove the pan from heat. Choose one flavor from the Flavor Variations section. For chocolate: whisk in 1.5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder until fully dissolved and smooth. For syrups (caramel, pumpkin spice, hazelnut): whisk or stir in 1 tablespoon of the chosen syrup until combined.

4

Taste and adjust sweetness or flavor: add up to 1 additional teaspoon sugar or an extra 1/2 tablespoon syrup/cocoa if you prefer a stronger flavor.

Finish & Serve

5

Froth (optional)

If you want a foamier steamer, use a handheld milk frother or small whisk to froth the mixture for 15–30 seconds until light and slightly foamy.

6

Serve

Pour the steamer into two 8–10 oz cups (about 1 cup each). Top each with 1 tablespoon whipped cream if desired, and garnish with a light dusting (1/8 tsp) ground nutmeg or cinnamon or chocolate shavings. Serve immediately while hot.
