Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Dredge the calamari rings in the mixture until evenly coated.
- 2
Fry the Calamari
In a deep frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the calamari in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 3
Make the Sweet and Spicy Sauce
In a separate pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced red bell pepper and minced garlic, sautéing until softened (about 2-3 minutes). Stir in honey, red chili flakes, soy sauce, and lime juice. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 4
Combine and Serve
Toss the fried calamari in the sweet and spicy sauce until evenly coated. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy!
