Dough Preparation

1. Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.

3. Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

4. Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. Let it Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and sauté the chopped onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

7. Add Meat and Spices

Add the ground meat to the skillet, cooking until browned. Stir in the spices, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley. Cook for another 5 minutes, then remove from heat.

Assembly and Baking

8. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

9. Shape the Kou

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle, place a spoonful of filling in the center, and fold the edges over to seal.

10. Prepare for Baking

Place the shaped Kou on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

11. Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
